[Call for Paper]

Workshop: Applications and Theories for Scientific Big Data (ATSBD 2013)

Date: September 8-14, 2013

Venue: Washington D.C., USA

Conference Website: http://www.asesite.org/conferences/bigdata/2013/index.html

n  Goals

Scientific Big Data refers to Big Data that is collected, organized, stored, managed, and, most importantly, analyzed to enable and to accelerate discoveries in science. Examples of Scientific Big Data include nuclear research data, where the CERN Institute, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is a major contributor; all of the data reported on the generation and consumption of all forms of energy on a global scale, where Smart Grids are a tremendous source of that data; and all the aeronautics and space data collected over the last few decades, including almost 100 years of data exposed by NASA as part of the Open Government initiative by the US government. Therefore, in this workshop, we focus on the Scientific Big Data rather than the usual Big Data in the perspective of data management cycle such as collection, manipulation, storage, visualization, analysis, and application.

n  Topics of Interest

Topics of interest for the workshop will include but will not be limited to:

-       Data collection in scientific big data

-       Data manipulation in scientific big data

-       Data storage for scientific big data

-       Visualization for scientific big data

-       Application for scientific big data

-       Data fusion in scientific big data

-       Text mining in scientific big data

-       Data mining in scientific big data

-       Semantic Web for scientific big data

n  Electronic Submission

-       Prepare your manuscripts with the following conference paper styles not more than 10 pages in PDF file. ( Paper Styles). Submit your paper(s) through the ATSBD 2013 submission site . Each submission should be regarded as an undertaking that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors must attend the conference to present the work in order for the paper to be included in the Digital Library

-       All papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee for significance, originality, accuracy, and clarity.

n  Paper Publications

-       The accepted papers will be included in the IEEE Digital Library.

n  Important Dates
